Gurugram: To deter the commuters in Gurugram from breaking the traffic rules, police have again brought in an innovative concept on the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The significant day will be used as Suraksha Bandhan by Gurugam cops as its women cops will be tying the rakhis to offenders and advising them to obey the traffic rules.

The strict approach taken by the law enforcement officials in the past has resulted in a situation of the acrimonious relationship between the traffic police personnel and commuters on several occasions. Observing these kinds of the event is seen as yet another opportunity for the police to develop a friendly relationship with the commuters and yet be firm in advising them to not be traffic offenders. Various other activities have also been planned to increase traffic awareness.

This includes the display of road safety related banners, screening of road safety related clips, display of road safety messages on various media platforms and public announcements through traffic police vehicles to educate commuters. The police officials also plan to hold meetings with various Government departments including the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), HUDA and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to discuss road related safety issues.
