GURUGRAM: Traders becoming victims of extortion, burglaries and even murders is not a new phenomenon in the outskirts of Gurugram.
However, in a brazen incident, burglars shot a trader on the foot and robbed him of Rs 4 lakh within the city's busy Sadar Bazaar area on Saturday night.
The incident took place when the victim, identified as Ravinder Singla, was returning home on his scooter around 8.00 pm.
Singla is currently undergoing treatment at Gurugram Civil hospital.
"It seems that robbers were keeping an eye on him and were waiting for an opportune time to strike. We have now begun our investigations and hope to catch them soon," said Inspector Narender Singh.
It may be noted that the robbed occurred just a day after the daylight burglary at Shanti gas godown.
In the outskirts of Gurugram, traders have often held demonstrations over the weak law and order situation, blaming it for them being frequently targeted by criminals.
Now, the traders within the city are also demanding strengthening of the law and order.
