Guard stabbed to death in mistaken identity, one held

New Delhi: A 65-year-old man working as night watchman was murdered by a person in South Delhi area. Police claimed that they have arrested the accused and he claimed that he wanted to kill auto rickshaw driver with whom he had an altercation a few days ago but instead of that other man was killed.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Ram Bahadur. He was admitted to AIIMS trauma centre in injured condition in the early hours on Wednesday. He told his family members that he was attacked by an unknown person with a sharp-edged weapon while he was taking rest in a parked auto rickshaw. However, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar stated they arrested Benzi, a resident of Imphal who is currently living in Safdarjung Enclave, where he is preparing for competitive examinations. "The accused had an altercation with the auto rickshaw driver and since then he was looking for ways to settle scores. On Tuesday night, he saw one person in the auto rickshaw at Humayunpur whom he thought to be the same person," said the DCP. He further added that in order to teach him a lesson, he used a sharp knife and hit him in the neck and fled from there. However, the police identified him and nabbed him before he could escape.
