New Delhi: The Delhi government Tuesday approved a proposal to amend a rule on giving ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to the kin of slain security personnel to include those who have settled in the national capital after joining service.

According to the government, the amendment was necessitated following the latest incident of brutal murder of Head Constable Narender Kumar of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Jammu and Kashmir. It was noted that the family of Narender has been residing in Delhi since many years though he hailed from Haryana.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
