New Delhi: The gun battle in north Delhi on Monday, which lasted a few minutes, once again brought the rivalry of two top gangs to light. Delhi Police claimed that on more than 10 occasions, the rival Jitender Gogi and Sunil Tillu gangs had attacked each other.
Investigators in Crime Branch of Delhi Police told Millennium Post that the rivalry between the two gangs started where their respective kingpins were in college, and resulted in several killings of persons who had been associates or known to both the criminals.
"We cannot say they want supremacy or money. But personal enmity could be the reason behind these gun fights," said the investigators.
An alleged CCTV footage of the shootout, which took place in north Delhi's Burari area, surfaced a few hours after later. It showed the gang members firing indiscriminately at each other.
Investigators further said that both the gangs had been waiting for the perfect time to finish each other off, and had not directly never came face to face.
"Perfect recce and tip-off about the rivals was received by both the gangs, after which the crime was committed," said the investigator, adding that the shootout was the typical example of a gang-war.
The investigator claimed to have seen more than 10 such incidents between the two gangs in Outer, Rohini and north Delhi area. "With enhancement in technology, both the gangs started using WhatsApp calling, so that they cannot be traced by the police," added the investigator.
