New Delhi: A 22-year-old man working as a supervisor in a hotel at Gurugram wanted to give a surprise gift to his girlfriend so he robbed a watch costing Rs 90,000 from the delivery boy. The plan to impress his woman failed after the police arrested him from Model Town-III on Wednesday.
According to the police, on July 23, the complainant Kalipada Sahu living in Houzrani area of Malviya Nagar informed the police that an unknown customer booked a lady watch of RADO which was available on Rs 67,000 after discount through the mobile phone. Police claimed that the complainant (delivery boy) reached Kashmiri Gate metro station to deliver the watch and met the accused who took him on his motorcycle for payment at 16, Rajpur Road Civil Lines and he was directed to ring the doorbell.
"When the complainant went to ring the door bell, the alleged customer fled away with his bag containing watch on his motorcycle," police said. A team of Civil Lines police station started the probe and during the course of the investigation, CDR and ownership of alleged mobile number which was used to book the watch were obtained and found registered in the name of one Virender Nath Sukl.
During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that he wants to give a surprise gift to his girlfriend. The accused is a BTech degree holder.
