Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Friday signed an MoU with Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL) for replacement of sodium street lights installed on the streets of Ghaziabad district with bright and much energy efficient LED lights.
The MoU has been signed on behalf of GDA vice chairperson Ritu Maheshwari and Managing Director of EESL. EESL will replace sodium lights in various housing scheme and the company will complete the installation work within four months.
According to GDA officials, the MoU (memorandum of understanding) has been signed for Rs 8.13 crore. EESL will replace all the sodium lights into LED in various localities as Indirapuram Yojana, Swarn Jyanti Puram Yojana, Indraprastha Yojana, Koyal Enclave Yojana, Tulsi Niketan Yojana, Madhuban Bapudham Yojana, Rajnagar Extension and other locality. The lights will be changed within four months since the day of the MoU has been signed, said GDA officials.
"The EESL will run the project for five years and the company will also bear the responsibility of maintenance. The company will use E-smart method in lighting as CCMS (Centralized Control and Monitoring System) for operations. The project have a total cost of Rs 8.13 crore. About Rs 6.81 crore will be sent for installation of LED light and Rs 1.32 crore will be spent on maintenance of these lights. After completing the project, GDA can save Rs 3 crore per year," said GDA official.
