New Delhi: Since one year, Avinash with his friend Manish, both school dropouts have been supplying liquor to their associates who further delivered the booze to the parties in NCR. Their modus operandi was also bizarre as they used to hide the liquor bottles under trash inside the delivery van. Their luck ran out after they were arrested from South East Delhi, police claimed on Friday.
The accused came to Delhi in search of job but they fell into the trap of liquor traffickers and started working as delivery agents. They used to get the delivery van at Delhi Border from Shahbad Dairy side and after that, they were directed to supply the liquor to agents in Noida.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that the liquor consignment was camouflaged with trash to cover up the liquor cartons so that police personnel would not be able to trace them. Accused further disclosed that the said liquor was used in parties and functions. Accused persons used to get Rs 5000 each for delivery of the consignment.
Police claimed that the traffickers basically try to supply the Haryana-based liquors in parties so that they can easily earn profit which can be more than Rs one lakh.
In another case, police also arrested one Asif Ali during patrolling in the district. The accused was transporting illicit liquor in Maruti SX4 car. From his interrogation, they came to know about a woman involved in the crime.
"Raids were conducted in Aali Vihar at the godown of bootlegger Komal who was also arrested. During the search of the premises, 49 cartons of Asli Santra masaledar deshi sharab for sale in Haryana only were recovered from a room," added the DCP.
During interrogation, the accused Komal disclosed that he used to purchase liquor from Faridabad and through his suppliers he used to supply the same in Noida to different persons. He had previously been arrested in 10 cases of the Excise Act.
