Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police on Friday arrested four persons including two women for allegedly honey trapping rich persons and extorting money from them after blackmailing. While the accused were identified as arrested gang leader Harkesh alias Dev, resident of Chanhat, Palwal (Haryana), Nivesh Sirohi, resident of Dalpatpur Mukteshwara, Aurangabad, Bulandshahr and two their accomplice women. Police have recovered one I-10 car and mobile phones from the honey trap gang members.
The arrest was made by Indirapuram Police of Ghaziabad after they acted upon a complaint received from an Indirapuram based businessman that the gang is extorting money from him after blackmailing. Police began investigating the matter and arrested four persons on Friday.
Informing about the modus operandi of the gang, Akash Tomar, superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad, said "Harkesh alias Dev used to provide phone numbers of good financial position persons to lady members and they trap them. One of the two ladies used to call the targeted person and lure him to get into relationship with her. After relationship, all of four used to black mail and get extortion. The gang used to lodge several FIRs under sections of rape and later they got heavy money to withdraw the complaint. The police are trying to trace earlier victims of arrested honey trap gang".
