NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has arrested a notorious gang of interstate fraudsters who used to dupe people on the pretext of providing job abroad and has recovered 148 passports, 13 mobile phones, 35 SIM cards and one Verna car purchased from duped money.
A case was registered at Janak Puri on the complaint of one Vijay, a resident of Sikar Rajasthan, who alleged that he contacted Black Stone Immigration Services running from Janak Puri on January 17, 2019, after seeing online advertisement, which lured him to provide job in Canada and took about Rs 1.25 lakhs from him. Later they absconded with his money and passport.
Raids were conducted in several areas of Punjab and finally the accused persons Ishpreet, Karan, Palak and Akanksha were arrested from Zirakpur, Patiala, Punjab on May 22 and at their instance total 148 passports of duped persons, one Verna Car, purchased from the duped money, 13 mobile phones used in offence and 35 SIM cards used in offence were recovered. One co-accused Kaka is absconding and raids are on to nab them.
"Accused persons used to lure the victims on the pretext of ensuring foreign work visa and job in foreign countries. After collecting money and passports from several gullible victims they absconded. During the interrogation the accused persons revealed that they duped about 200 persons of various states and taken away their money, about 60-70 lakhs and passports. Efforts are on to trace and contact the other victims. Raids are on to nab the absconding accused Kaka," said Monika Bhardwaj, DCP West Delhi.
One of the accused Ispreet has a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Patiala College. He came to Delhi in 2016 and started working as consultant. Later he opened his own office and started duping people.
