Fire breaks out at SBI building in Sansad Marg

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out on the sixth floor of the State Bank of India (SBI) building on Sansad Marg on Wednesday morning.

Immediately fire services were called and they started the fire fighting operation. Since it was early morning, the staff of the SBI was not present in the building.

Fortunately, no injury was reported after the fire was doused.

However, the estimated damage of the property is estimated to be in lakhs.

The fire department was alerted about the blaze at 8.10 am, following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The firefighters went inside and controlled the fire through cranes used by the firemen at work.

"The fire broke out in an office on the sixth floor of the SBI building at Sansad marg, the fire fighting system was found not working in SBI building" Chief Fire Officer Atul Garg said.

The firefighters brought the blaze under control by 8.30 am, he said, adding that efforts were on to ascertain what caused the fire.

On Tuesday a fire was reported at Lawrence road Keshavpuram where a major fire occurred at a shoe factory. The fire was doused and no casualty took place.
