New Delhi: Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, emphasised the crucial role of education in transforming India into a developed nation during the culmination ceremony of the GGSIPU Silver Jubilee celebrations and 27th Foundation Day. Addressing the gathering, she pointed out that Indians are excelling globally in top corporate roles, underscoring the significance of education in achieving success. She highlighted that the Delhi government allocates over 25 per cent of its Budget to education, resulting in over 2,000 government school students clearing competitive exams like JEE and NEET, matching or surpassing their private school counterparts.
In his address, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, shared the university’s remarkable journey from its humble beginnings at Kashmere Gate to becoming a prestigious institution. Over the last 25 years, the university expanded to offer 190 academic programs across 40 disciplines, with over 1.13 lakh students and 110 affiliated institutes. He also connected the Delhi government’s welfare schemes, like the Mahila Samman Yojana, with the university’s Single Girl Child scheme, and highlighted the alignment of Business Blasters, offering seed funding to students, with the university’s own Incubation Fund supporting 75 startups.
Atishi also toured newly built facilities, including the Amphitheatre, Health Centre, and Guest House, and praised the Art Work & Hunar Haat. Long-serving staff and faculty were honored with awards and certificates during the event, and a film about the university was unveiled.
