NEW DELHI: Delhi Transco Private Limited (DTL) on Thursday issued guidelines against unauthorised constructions which is creating problem in smooth power supply in Delhi. DTL faces problems in regular maintenance of the lines due to the massive unauthorised constructions under transmission lines.
The DTL appealed the public to remove unauthorised structures in the vicinity and under the high voltage transmission lines for the safety of their lives and properties as well as for smooth supply of electricity. The DTL spokesperson said that most of the transmission lines of Delhi Transco were laid long back duly following the law. The ownership of the land under and around the transmission lines is not with Delhi Transco Limited. The land mainly belongs to the respective land owning agencies.
Over the years people have encroached upon the land and built up their houses and other structures just beneath and around the transmission lines violating the statutory clearances. It is not only an obstacle in smooth transmission of power but is also hazardous for the people living there. "Whenever any object come in contact with the line it gets tripped and the supply to the residents and also essential services like hospital, water supply, Delhi Metro etc gets affected till it is restored through alternative transmission routes," said DTL spokesperson.
