NEW DELHI: The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Board on Monday approved procurement of 500 additional low floor buses for the national Capital.
The decision was taken in a board meeting chaired by Minister of Transport Kailash Gahlot, which was attended by senior officials of the Delhi government, including the managing director of DTC, Principal Secretary (Finance), Principal Secretary (Land and Building) and Commissioner (Transport).
The Board resolved to procure 500 low floor buses, with 80 per cent non-air conditioned ones and 20 per cent air conditioned ones.
At Monday's meeting, the Board also resolved for de-freezing the pensionary benefits which includes enhancement of dear allowance after July 2014, as well as enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month per pensioner after November 19, 2014.
Moreover, the Board resolved the extension of the benefits on account of fixation and age factor and revision of pension, in accordance with the recommendations of Seventh Central Pay Commission, effective from January 1, 2016. More than 16,000 pensioners will be benefitted by the move.
The Board also agreed for extension of student concessional bus pass facilities to all bonafide institutes within Delhi. "The Board agreed for extension of student concessional bus pass facilities to all bonafide institutes within Delhi, as per the provision of Section-5 of Delhi Transport Corporation (Free & Concessional Passes) Regulations, 1985 benefiting students of Educational institutions set-up after 2002 also," said a DTC spokesperson.
