Drive against encroachments carried out in west Delhi

NEW DELHI: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Thursday continued its anti-encroachment drive, this time in the West Zone, as encroachment removal action was undertaken at KG-1 Block in Tilak Nagar Market and from Raja Garden–Basai Darapur Chowk to Janakpuri East Metro Station.
As many as 26 four-wheelers and four handheld carts were seized by SDMC authorities, while 17 shops and 63 semi-permanent structures were demolished with the help of bulldozers.
Nine other structures, khokhas and illegal shops were also demolished.
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police challaned nine vehicles for various violations of traffic rules.
In Najafgarh Zone, action was taken at many places, from Shakuntala Nursing Home to Gandhi Chowk, Nallah Road Sagarpur.
During the action, encroachments on both sides of the four km Nallah Road were removed.
Fruit and vegetable mandis were functioning along this road. About 3,000 sq feet of encroached govt land has been vacated.
