Depressed over his wife's demise, 28-year-old Alok committed suicide barely two days after her death in Bhondsi. His wife, Lalita died in a road accident after which Alok slit open his wrist on Tuesday.

Alok was an employee of a private company in the city and Lalita was pursuing higher studies. On Sunday Alok had taken Lalita to Mahendragarh for her examination. While returning from Mahendragarh their motorcycle was hit by a truck from behind. Alok sustained minor injuries, but the accident cost the life of his wife.

According to cops, the incident had left a profound impact on Alok's mind.

"Alok fell victim to depression after Lalita's death. Also, he started behaving unusually. Based on our interaction with Alok's family members he kept on mentioning that he was responsible for Lalita's death and also wanted to die. We will not be investigating the case further," said Investigating officer Sachin Kumar.

The officer also added that a month old married couple had a strong bond. "Newly married Alok wanted to be financially secure so that he can shift to his native place and settle there with his wife," added the officer.

Alok hailed from Mahendragarh district and he stayed with his family in a rented house in Bhondsi. Lalita, who died on Sunday evening hailed from Ghamdauj village. This is the second case of suicide in quick succession that has been reported from Gurugram.
