New Delhi: Despite showing an improvement in the pass percentage as compared to the last year, Delhi has been ranked ninth in top 10 states in CBSE Class 10th examination with a slight improvement of 2.35 percentage overall all this year. The results were declared by the board on Monday.
The percentage of students in Delhi who cleared this year's CBSE class 10 boards up 2.35 percentage point this year, which recorded pass percentage of 78.62 percent last year and improved it to 80.97 percent this year.
Moreover, a total of 2, 60,789 appeared in the exam with 79.52 passing percentage for boys and 82.57 percentage for girls. Data further shows, that once again girls outperform over boy in
Delhi.
Overall a total of 3,35,128 candidates had appeared for the Class 10 examination( Govt aided, govt, independent, JNV and KV, CTSA, private (full subject) compartment, with all additional category) from the Delhi region whereas a total of 3,39,614 registered for the secondary exam.
Moreover, a delhi based, 15 year old student Shivika Dudan from Amity International School Pushp vihar has topped the national capital Delhi in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 exams.
She has secured 498 marks out of 500 marks and is among 25 students to share the all India rank two in the country. Her mother is a doctor and Shivika too has a love for Biology.
"This subject is my favorite and I want to take up medical in class 11 and 12. I want to become a doctor. I have yet to decide the specialisation but I am ready to work hard towards my goal," she said.
Ten students bagged top position including Shivika Dudan, scored rank second and Arnav Singh, Mallika Ajmani, Neha Jain, Kalpana Kumari, Sejal Saxena and Khushi Rawat from Delhi are among the 59 students, who have shared the third rank with 497 marks.
The Delhi Government schools improved its performance by 2.68 percentage points this year.
As per the results of 2019, the total pass percentage in schools run by Delhi Government is 71.58%.
Besides, the numbers of students who are placed in compartment i.e. those who have failed in upto 2 subjects are 44516 which is 26.79% of the total who appeared. The percentage of students who have failed is 1.63%.
This year 1,66,167 students from schools run by Directorate of Education, Govt. of Delhi appeared in the board exam which is 29,504 students more than last year.
The number of students who have passed the exam this year is 1,18,936 students which is 24,776 more than last year.
