New Delhi: The power generated from farms in the vicinity of the national Capital under 'Mukhyamantri Kisan Aay Badhotari Solar Yojana' is likely to be used in water and sewage treatment plants run by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) or the government run hospitals, officials said.
The solar panel installation in farms is in progress with 100 acres of farmland in the green belt of Delhi. The government is awaiting consent from farmers, who will receive Rs 1 lakh per acre as rent with 6 per cent annual increase for 25 years, they added.
Delhi Power Minister, Satyendra Jain in an interview with Millennium Post said, "In Delhi, roughly 150 MW rooftop solar panels have been installed. We are number one in this regard. We are working in this field with great speed…it will effect the Delhi's supply of solar energy positively."
A multi-pronged solar policy was introduced in 2016 after which the government establishments started switching to solar energy.
An official report stated, "RESCO is a model in which no upfront investment is required for installation of solar plants, the rooftop system is owned by a third party who sells the solar energy diretly to the owner or any other consumer. CAPEX is another example wherein the rooftop owner hires a system integrator/EPC company to install the rooftop SPV system by making the necessary investment. The Department of Power has nominated Indraprastha Power Generation Co. Ltd (IPGCL) as a nodal agency for tendering and installation of solar power system."
