NEW DELHI: The special cell of Delhi Police has unearthed a weapon manufacturing and assembling unit at Meerut after they caught two men Saidullah and Naseem after a brief encounter at NH-1 in Delhi. The other three members of the gang were arrested from Meerut. A total of 84 high-end pistols have been recovered from them.
On October 8, Head Constable Parvez Alam received information that two key members of illegal arms syndicate would go to Haryana via NH-1, Delhi to deliver huge consignment of pistols to their contacts.
A trap was laid at road towards Singhu border, near Tikri red light, NH-1, Delhi. Police team started vehicle checking by putting barricades. At about 12:40 am, a silver colour Verna car was noticed coming towards them in which two persons were sitting.
The duo was identified as Shaidulla and Naseem. Police team signalled them to stop but Shaidulla, who was driving the car, tried to pass the police barricade. But they were arrested after a brief encounter as they fired upon the police team.
"52 pistols were recovered from a secret cavity that was created in the boot of the car by covering the space for stepney with fibre sheet and closing the sheet with nut-bolt," said Sanjeev Yadav, DCP Special Cell.
After interrogating them, another raid was conducted at the house of Furkan in Meerut, where the illegal weapons were being manufactured and three persons Mohd. Shabir, Mohd. Imtiaz and Mohd. Obaid was apprehended. 19 more illegal pistols along with raw materials like springs, barrel, magazine length and instruments used in preparing these illegal firearms were recovered from there.
Saidullah is a resident of Munger in Bihar. He is indulged in the manufacturing of illegal arms for the last 15 years.
He started assembling and manufacturing illegal arms at an early age, as the majority of his village people in Munger, Bihar are involved in this illegal business.
