NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government started the disinfection drive on Tuesday for vehicles like auto-rickshaw, gramin sewa, phat-phat sewa, maxi cab, eco-friendly sewa and other public service vehicles.
According to government sources, until now, 1,751 vehicles got sanitised in the first shift itself which was from 10 am to 12 pm. It includes 1,182 auto-rickshaws and 194 e-rickshaws among many others. The disinfection of vehicles is being done at all the DTC and Cluster Bus Depots on a daily basis in two shifts. The first shift is from 10 am to 12 pm, whereas the second shift is from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The government is also issuing a "Certificate of Disinfection" for every sanitised vehicle. Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot is personally monitoring the disinfection drive. He said: "We are delighted with the way this disinfection drive has begun. We are looking forward to catering more such public service vehicles in the upcoming days."
The Delhi government has advised that everyone should get their vehicle disinfected every day although this service is not mandatory for all.
