NEW DELHI: The Delhi government on Friday initiated the testing of 'anti-pollution towers' at Indraprastha Marg Flyove in ITO, on a pilot/experimental basis, for demonstrating its effectiveness in reduction of particulate matter – i.e. PM 2.5 and PM 10 – and other suspended particulate matter in the air.
These towers absorb particulate matter from surroundings and release fresh air back into the atmosphere.
"The performance of these towers will be monitored and the results obtained will be evaluated for checking their efficacy and utility.
"Based on these results, the government will take further necessary decision for installation of more anti-pollution towers at other prominent locations in the city to curb pollution, especially at busy traffic intersections," said Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain.
