NEW DELHI: The long-pending demand of students to make their pass valid for DTC AC buses, Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the facility of student concessional passes to the air-conditioned buses of DTC and the buses running under cluster scheme also. Delhi Cabinet was chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday.
Currently, student passes are valid only for DTC non-AC and cluster buses. As per the DTC guidelines for students' passes, the concessional passes are made on monthly basis for Rs 100. Students studying in regular colleges of any Central and Government authorised universities can avail pass.
After the Cabinet Meeting Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was addressing media and said "these passes shall be available to the bonafide students of educational institutions in Delhi, recognized by the Universities set up in Delhi by the Act of Parliaments such as Central Government, Delhi Administration and Municipal Corporations of Delhi.
"DTC is already issuing free and concessional passes to various sections of society for which Government of NCT of Delhi is granting subsidy to it in a per-determined manner," Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said. "The student passes would be issued to all beneficiaries institutions in accordance with the said Regulation. The reimbursement of subsidy to the DTC will be done as per the prevailing pattern," said in the Cabinet note.
Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia said that the DTC is presently getting support from Government in the form of Grant-in-Aid and Subsidy component on passes.
