NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Public Works Department's (PWD) proposal for expenditure sanction of Rs 303 crore for the construction of a six-lane flyover at Shastri Park Intersection and a two-lane flyover at Seelampur. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The project will lead to a signal-free corridor from UP border to ISBT and will help in getting rid of the massive traffic jams at Shastri Park intersection. The project was earlier approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee for the same amount as the preliminary estimate. The construction of these flyovers will facilitate a signal-free corridor from ISBT to Shahadra.

The project is likely to be completed in 18 months and will take another six months for administrative approval and disbursal of funds. "One flyover with each carriageway width of 10.5 meters at Shastri Park junction and one flyover with each carriageway width of seven metres at Seelampur are proposed. As per the proposal, the length of the flyover at Shastri Park junction is 700 metre, while the length of the flyover at Seelampur Chowk is 1,200 metre," stated the Cabinet proposal.

The Cabinet also approved the Health Department's proposal for remodelling of 94 Delhi government dispensaries into Polyclinics in different areas of the national capital at the cost of Rs 168 crore. "The aim of the project is to reorganise health care facilities by remodelling the dispensaries into polyclinics, which will be attached to various Delhi government hospitals. The polyclinics will act as satellite centres for outdoor specialised medical treatment centres of these hospitals. Medical superintendents of hospitals to which the polyclinics will be attached will be the overall in-charges of these polyclinics," said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting.

At present, around 30 polyclinics are operational in the national capital and the government has set a target to set up 150 such polyclinics. The Kejriwal Cabinet has taken a major proposal to award the work to successful bidder VFS Global Services as the agency for executing the work related to 'Doorstep delivery services'.

The Delhi Deputy Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had earlier approved doorstep delivery of 40 services, now another 30 public services are being added; another set of 30 services will be added within a period of one month of the launch of the scheme. It means that Delhi government will be providing a total 100 services under this scheme. This means that in about two months from now, the residents will be able to avail 100 services across government's eight departments without stepping out of their homes.

The services will include certificates such as caste, new water connection, income, driving licence, ration card, domicile, marriage registration, duplicate RC and change of address in RC.
