A man has been arrested after he kidnapped a student of Class X and strangulated her to death after raping her, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred on May 2 when the girl was kidnapped by the assailant and was murdered as she resisted him from raping her.
He later threw away her body in an isolated area. After this, the mother of the victim lodged a complaint at the Noida Sector 49 Police Station.
"Following a complaint from the mother of the victim, a case was registered against the accused in Noida Sector 49 Police Station on April 24. The girl was a resident of Sarfabad village near Sector 44.
A complaint of a girl getting kidnapped by an unidentified person was registered and police began their investigations after that," said Girendra Pal Singh, station house officer.
"During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused, Yashveer spoke to the girl a number of times and were in a relationship.
He later kidnapped her and took to an isolated place where he tried to rape her.
"On resisting, the accused allegedly strangulated her to death and threw her body in Simbhaoli area.
The accused has now been arrested by the police and will be presented before the court soon," added Singh.
The accused has admitted that he committed the crime, police said.
