:The South West District police on Monday nabbed a gang of car and motorcycle robbers who are residents of South Dinajpur and Malda district, West Bengal. These miscreants were staying in rented accommodation in Delhi for several years and have committed a series of crime in Dwarka during the past three months.
Along with their arrest, the cops have recovered two pistols with live cartridges, one Honda City Car, three robbed motorcycles and other equipment of committing auto thefts. "The other car i.e. Swift Dzire which they had stolen from Dwarka Sector 23, a month ago has been sold in UP but we will soon recover it," said police.
On May 26, a student lodged a complaint of car robbery. He stated that around 11.15 p.m., he had parked his Honda City car outside a restaurant in Sector 10 Dwarka Metro Station. At 11 p.m. he finished dinner and sat in his car when three armed assailants immediately swung inside the car and took hold of him at gun point. They asked him to move out from the car without raising an alarm. He moved accordingly following which they robbed his car and fled towards a deserted road.
The car then met with an accident a few metres away from the crime scene with a bike. This led the cops to DDU hospital where the injured turned out to be an associate of the accused robbers. Soon, he was arrested.
"They did odd jobs like car cleaning, mechanic work, and driving. They had come in contact with one Safedi, a resident of Najafgarh and procured two pistol and Rs. 10,000/- from a village in UP and used themweapons to rob cars and motorcycles," said DCP South West Surender Kumar.
