A man was allegedly thrashed by four policemen after his car brushed against their motorcycle on the intervening night of May 17 and 18 in Rohini.
The victim, who bears injury marks on his body, alleged that he was then taken to the police station and tortured the whole night by the cops.
The man's family also alleged that they had to pay a bribe of Rs 60,000 to the cops to get the victim Amit Jindal out of the Prashant Vihar police station.
Jindal, a property dealer, was returning after attending a function at around 1 am, when his car reached Prashant Vihar and scraped past the motorcycle of two policemen who fell down.
"He was thrashed by policemen who were drunk. He was brutally beaten up and taken to the police station where he was again thrashed. They demanded one lakh as bribe, we paid 60,000 to get him back," alleged Sachin Gupta, a relative of the victim.
However, the cops blamed the complainant to be at fault and denied all allegations.
"People of the area came to police station, along with the man's father and brother, and he was let off with them. The MLC conducted in the
hospital showed no injuries, except an abrasion on the arm, which he reportedly sustained when he got out of his vehicle and could not maintain his balance after having consumed alcohol," said DCP Rohini, Rishi Pal Singh.
