When the Delhi police failed to make any substantial leads in the Amar colony murder case, a trainee IPS officer Rohit Rajbir was tasked with the responsibility.
Rohit is presently the station House officer of Amar Colony. The young officer set his feet busy in collecting all evidence and also re-examined the CCTV footages. This vibrant officer is the son of deceased Delhi Police encounter specialist ACP Rajbir Singh who was murdered in 2008 in Gurgaon by a property dealer. This was his first case as an investigating officer, Rohit Rajbir Singh an IPS officer got his first posting on April 27 exactly a month after Pooja's murder.
It was a unique case as, despite the interrogation of all possible suspects, analysis of all nearby CCTV footage, all possible sources of ground intelligence being explored and all conventional techniques of investigations, the criminal face stayed blurred. "We had already worked with traditional methods which did not yield any good results. So, we changed our investigation and checked the social networking sites that were used by Pooja. We made a list of persons whom she was in touch with and started afresh," said the very enthusiastic Rohit. During the re-examining of CCTV footages, Sufian's movements were seen in one of the cameras.
"We called him for questioning. Though he was a tough nut to crack but when confronted with evidence, he broke down and confessed," added Rohit.
