RTV runs over 10-year-old, driver absconding

 A boy who was playing a few meters away from his house in South West Delhi's Palam area was crushed to death after an incoming RTV hit him on Thursday.  

Soon after the accident, the driver fled the spot. In a while, a huge crowd gathered at the spot. 

They not only broke the window panes of the vehicle but also set it on fire.

The body was shifted to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

His body will be handed over to his parents after post mortem.

10-year-old Krishna used to live with his father Jaipal, a tractor driver and mother Malti Devi at their residence in Palam.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West), Surender Kumar, the incident took place around 4:45 pm. 

The police had received the PCR ten minutes after the incident. Following this, a team was deputed from Palam police station.ation.

By the time the cops reached the spot, the driver had fled the area. They then managed to pacify the crowd after promising that strict action would be taken against the accused.
The RTV driver could not apply the brakes on time and hence hit the boy, stated sources. 

"He did try to stop the vehicle but by then it was too late. We are trying to trace his whereabouts," said a police source.
