Day after fire in its office, DCW operates from parking area

New Delhi: A day after a fire broke out in its office, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Wednesday continued their work from the parking area of the complex in Central Delhi.

The DCW chief Swati Maliwal tweeted," Yesterday we gave written complaint to Police reg fire in DCW. FIR registered. Also ordered internal enquiry & sought cause of fire from Fire Department. Work at office severally affected. Essential services like Helpdesk, 181, Rape Crisis Cell, Panchayats functional."

From the parking area, DCW chief along with her members heard several complaints. A fire was reported on the second floor of the Vikas Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. At least eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze. DCW office too was affected with the fire and several files were reportedly burnt.

There are no reports of injuries or casualties. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. However, it was believed that the AC ducts caught fire which resulted in fire spreading on the floor.

The DCW chief Swati Maliwal said, "Our office also caught fire. Several files were also burnt. Huge property was destroyed in the fire. In a tweet, she thanked police and fire personnel for their quick response.
