Greater Noida: Noida Special Task Force (STF) team have arrested a wanted criminal who was one among the accused persons involved in the gang rape of four women and murder of their male relative in Jewar area in May
2017.
Cops said that the accused persons punctured the car, gang raped four women and murdered their male
relative.
According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Monu Bawariya alias Kanhaiya, a native of District Alwar in Rajasthan.
Police officials said that the accused also carried a reward of Rs 50, 000 on his head.
Raj Kumar Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Noida STF said that the accused is a member of Bawariya gang and was involved in several cases of robbery and murder in the district.
"A tipoff was received that Monu, who was wanted in Jewar case was coming to Jewar from Haryana."
"Acting on the information, STF team with the help of local police cornered off him and arrested on Monday midnight. Monu was a wanted criminal in several cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar and the police had announced a reward of Rs 50, 000 on his head," said Mishra.
The officer further said that the accused, along with his other accomplices, had shot dead a man and sexually assaulted the female passengers amid a robbery bid in May 2017.
"The accused was involved in the murder case that had occurred on intervening night of May 14/15, 2017 at Sikandarabad road near Jewar when he along with other associates had robbed persons in car and had shot dead a man."
"The accused persons also sexually assaulted the four female passengers in the van. Police had earlier arrested the wanted criminal Anil Babaria, whereas Monu was on run since then," added
Mishra.
Police have recovered a .315mm county made pistol, two cases of live ammunition and a Hero Honda motorcycle from his possession.
