Gurugram: Acting swiftly to repair deep cracks emerging at the IFFCO Chowk flyover here, the district officials have covered the hole with sliding steel plates.
They are also begun looking for other measures to prevent the spreading of the cracks in the recently built flyover.
In the last few days, major construction faults have begun appearing along new structures built at National Highway-8.
After cracks appeared at Hero Chowk flyover earlier, the same problem is being at IFFCO Chowk flyover. The importance of the flyover can be gauged from the fact that every commuter who has to go to Old Gurugram from New Gurugram uses this stretch.
Taking cognisance of the danger these cracks pose to commuters, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) closed that particular stretch and begun maintenance work.
Officials of NHAI also sought assistance from experts at Indian Institute of Technology–Bombay to repair the construction defects that emerged at the flyover.
Earlier, the experts were also asked to probe into the cracks at Hero Chowk flyover.
Slated to be completed within 30 months, the IFFCO Chowk was completed in a record time of 15 months.
Inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, the project was lauded.
However, the recent construction flaws have caused many to question whether the right procedures and materials were used for the projects.
