New Delhi: The Commissioner of Delhi Police, Amulya Patnaik launched an initiative for child-safety called "Naazuk" as a pilot project in Bharat Nagar area of North West district which will soon be extended to other parts of Delhi.

The launch was attended by around 800 children and 200 parents of the area. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police said "Necessity of a new initiative to make the children and their parents aware and to help in the prevention of incidents of child abuse was felt. Hence, "NAAZUK" is launched today in the North West District of Delhi Police and this initiative will gradually apply in other vulnerable areas of Delhi".

The Commissioner of Police also said: "the initiative is different from Nirbheek program of Delhi Police because, in Nirbheek, we address children in schools while in 'Naazuk', we reach out to children and their parents in their residential areas and living spaces. The purpose behind "NAAZUK" is to generate awareness about child sexual abuse particularly crimes against children of the smaller age group.

According to senior officials, Delhi Police CP wanted to make the personal and public spaces of children secure and safe for them.
