Ghaziabad: A 30-year-old unmarried man and his neighbour, a 37-year-old married woman, jumped before a train in an alleged suicide pact in Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad on Thursday morning.

Police officials said that the incident occurred at around 10 am at a railway crossing behind KIET College in Muradnagar area. The deceased were identified as Babli and Raju, both residents of ordinance factory in Muradnagar.

"As the information was conveyed to us, a police team rushed to the spot. The couple had jumped before a fast-moving express train which crushed their bodies badly. Both the victims died on the spot. Initially, it was difficult to identify them but as with the help of locals they were identified later," said Lakshendra Kumar, station house officer, Muradnagar police station.

The officer further said that as of now it is not clear why the couple were wandering on the railway track but said that they are not ruling out the possibility of a love affair between them. However, the bodies were handed over to the family after getting the post-mortem done.

The locals and railway staff spotted the unidentified couple walking on railway tracks a few minutes before the incident but they had never thought that they would commit suicide.

Sources claimed that the couple was in love for past some time. They had gone missing under mysterious circumstance from their houses.
