Greater Noida: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Tuesday busted a gang involved in counterfeiting of 10-year-old banned trucks by putting fake number plates on them.
According to THE police, seven persons have been arrested for allegedly running the racket. Police said that the arrested criminals have been identified as main accused Yash Gupta from Ghaziabad district, Vinod Kumar from Aurangabad district (Bihar), Manoj Kumar, Jitendra Prasad, Bharat Singh, Quadir and Chanarikh Yadav, all natives of Gautam Budh Nagar district and Ankur Bansal from Ghaziabadm, who is absconding.
"Acting on a tip-off, the Bisrakh police nabbed the whole gang of six truck drivers, including a truck owner from Bisrakh area of Greater Noida, early on Tuesday morning. The police also recovered six 10-wheeler trucks from the the arrested persons" said Nishank sharma, circle officer, Bisrakh.
The officer further said that the gang would change the number plates of old trucks banned by NGT and operate them illegally.
"The modus operandi of this gang was to change the number plates of the trucks in order to bypass the law. They use similar numbers that are issue to their new trucks on their banned trucks so that it cannot be identified easily" added Sharma.
