New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women on Thursday sent notice to Delhi Police regarding the rescue of a 50-year-old woman who was found in living in pitiable conditions in a house in Rohini.

The Commission, in a press statement, said that they rescued a 50-year-old woman from the Rohini house, with assistance from Delhi Police, on September 17.

The team of Delhi Police and DCW found the lady confined to the terrace of the house, and in an extremely malnourished and miserable condition.

The DCW team had to enter her house by climbing from the terrace of an adjacent house.

The statement claimed that the lady had been confined in the house by her own brother and his family for the past two years and was hardly given anything to eat or wear.

DCW further alleged that it was informed that the woman's brother and his wife have not been arrested till date and are threatening the lady in the hospital to not pursue the case.

In light of the above developments, the DCW directed Delhi Police to provide them information regarding the current status in the case, along with the copy of the FIR and reasons for not arresting the accused persons till date.

"Considering the gravity of the matter, please provide the above-mentioned information to the Commission latest by September 24," the DCW notice stated.
