NEW DELHI: Chief Minister and Chairman of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Arvind Kejriwal on Friday visited the Malviya Nagar Water Services (MNWS) project site to review the progress of the project. Officials informed the CM that MNWS has a total area of 14 sq km with a network of 219 km and it covers a population of 3.82 lakh.
The CM was briefed by the officials of the DJB and MNWS about the facility. The project was started in 2013 on the PPP model on a pilot basis to improve the efficiency of water network under Malviya Nagar UGR command area. The command area has five assembly constituencies under it—Malviya Nagar, Greater Kailash, Ambedkar Nagar, Chhatarpur and Mehrauli.
The total number of metered connections in the area is 43,087 and the area is divided under nine District Metering Areas (DMAs). The project has benefited the area by increasing the coverage area.
The Chief Minister also visited the scientific monitoring system SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) of the centre from where it controls the entire system.
The centre monitors flow, level, pressure, water quality, residual chlorine, conductivity and turbidity through the system.
The CM was told that the system was equipped with alarm annunciator to keep the parameters within limits.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by the DJB Vice Chairman Dinesh Mohania, MLAs Somnath Bharti, Kartar Singh Tanwar, Ajay Dutt and Naresh Yadav.
