CM inaugurates work for laying sewer line in Matiala

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister and Delhi Jal Board chairman Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday inaugurated work for the laying of a sewer line in Sainik Nagar group of colonies in Matiala Assembly constituency in west Delhi.

The inauguration programme was also attended by DJB vice-chairman Dinesh Mohania, Matiala MLA from Gulab Singh Yadav and other senior officials of the Board.

The laying of the sewer line is among the development works undertaken by the Delhi government to provide planned sewerage infrastructure The total length of the sewer line to be laid is 28.5 km.

After completion of the project, the sewerage of the colonies in Matiala will flow to the existing sewage pumping station.

From here, it will again be pumped into the sewerage treatment plant in Dwarka, thereby helping in reduction of pollution in Najafgarh drain caused due to untreated sewerage flow from this area.

The execution of this work will also improve the overall hygienic conditions of the area. The total cost of this project is Rs. 36 crores and is expected to complete in 36 months.

Meanwhile, the DJB stated that due to interconnection work for shifting of 900 mm dia duplicate main at Hanuman Mandir to Samta Sthal at Ring Road, Bhairon Marg, National Zoological Park to Oberoi Flyover, Mathura Road, water supply will not be available or available at low pressure on Monday evening and Tuesday morning in some areas.

The affected areas include Darya Ganj, LNJP Hospital, Pragati Maidan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, Nizamuddin and adjoining areas.
