Civil engineer turned to crime to fund addiction

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested a civil engineer, who reportedly had a serious habit of consuming drugs for his involvement in various snatching cases.
He has been identified as Raunaq and police say he completed his diploma in Civil Engineering from DPGITM, Sector-34, Gurugram, however his habit of taking drugs led him to crime and he found snatching as an easy way to meet his expenses.
His associate identified as Sanjay Rathore, who owns a bakery has also been arrested by Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
"Raunaq belongs to Uttarakhand. After completing his schooling from reputed schools in Janakpuri and Rajouri Garden, the accused completed his diploma in Civil Engineering," said DCP (Crime) Bhishm Singh
The police say that during this period, he fell in bad company and became a drug addict and came in contact with Sanjay Rathore who was also a drug addict.
"Both were involved in a snatching in Uttam Nagar where they robbed the purse of a woman on an e-rickshaw, containing cash Rs 8,000, mobile phone, debit and metro cards and fled away on their bike," said Bhishm Singh.
