New Delhi: The CBI has arrested a Delhi Police constable along with a lawyer in a bribery case, where the accused were found demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in exchange for dropping a case against the complainant, who is being investigated by the Delhi Police. Delhi Police officials said the arrested Constable was Satya Narayan and the advocate accused in the case was one named Soni. According to police, the two accused were demanding a Rs 1 lakh bribe from a person being investigated by local police in Delhi. Cops in the Capital said that the complainant in the case was being investigated in a case of jewellery theft registered at the Prasad Nagar police station in the Karol Bagh area.
Narayan, who was supposed to be probing the theft case had allegedly demanded the bribe from the accused through advocate Soni, according to the complaint filed with the central probe agency.
The Delhi Police added that a "departmental inquiry has been ordered against the accused Havildar and based on this inquiry and the documents received from the CBI, the Delhi Police will take further legal action against the accused Havildar".
