New Delhi: The special judge of CBI cases in the Rohini court has sentenced a Delhi Police sub-inspector to five years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 4.5 lakh in a bribery case, a statement by the investigative agency on Friday said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered a case on January 29, 2016, against Tulsi Ram, a sub-inspector from Shalimar Bagh police station, on a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant in exchange for help in a case investigated by an accused against the complainant and his family members.
"The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 2.5 lakh from the complainant. After the investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge, Rohini Courts on July 4, 2016," a CBI official said, adding that the trial court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
