New Delhi: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to Herald House at ITO where the passport office is situated after Delhi Police received a call claiming to blow up the passport office on Tuesday. Soon, the police staff along with the BDS teams and dog squad were rushed to the passport office. The area was scrutinised and all persons including the staff were asked to come out of the building as the police teams searched for the alleged bomb at the site.
The call was made at around 2:30 pm in which the male caller said that there is a bomb in the passport office. "We followed the standard operating procedure after the call. Fire tenders, ambulances and BDS teams along with dog squad were rushed to the passport office. Later, the call turned out to be a hoax. We are tracing the caller," said a senior police officer.
The caller has been traced to Gandhi Nagar in Delhi. Police teams have been rushed to identify the number and arrest the caller.
Normal functioning was disrupted at the passport office and the applicants had to lose several hours before the police resumed the normal functioning. Later, the crowd around the building swelled when the police left.
