'Blue-eyed-boy' of Delhi Police PR department retires

New Delhi: Having earned an enviable 93 awards during his 38-year-old career in law enforcement, assistant sub-inspector Balanath of Delhi Police was on Friday felicitated for his meritorious services. Balanath, who turned 60 on Friday, also won the President's Medal for Meritorious Service in 2016.

Senior officials in Delhi Police lauded Balanath for his contribution to the public relations department, where he served 33 years working with the media and arranging press conferences. They said his unblemished record and his sincere devotion to duty made him one of the most suitable man for the PR branch.

Balanath, a native of Allahabad, joined Delhi Police in 1980 as a constable, eventually being promoted to the rank of assistant sub-inspector.

Madhur Verma, PRO, Delhi Police, said, "Sometimes, vacuums are hard to fill. We will miss his services. There are times when experience and the relations in the field matters. This is where a person becomes important."

"This has been a place of worship for me. The love and affection I received from our police department and the media is unparalleled. I am taking back very sweet memories on my retirement day," Balanath said. Inspector Mahipal, a part of the advertisement section of the PRO branch, also retired on Friday.
