GB Nagar/Ghaziabad: Riding on the revolutionary Modi wave, both the Lok Sabha seats in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghazibad districts were comfortably won by the candidates contesting on the name of BJP and that too with fantastic margins. Interestingly, both the elected candidates on these two Lok Sabha constituencies have retained their seats this time as well.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar District, the counting of votes got started at 8 am and the strong rooms were opened in presence of senior administrative officials and representatives of all the competing candidates. BJP's Dr Mahesh Sharma made it once again by defeating his nearest rival, Bahujan Samaj Party-Samajwadi party alliance candidate Satveer Nagar by a significant margin of around 3.5 lakh votes.
Sharma registered his victory with a total of 8 lakh 28 thousand 124 votes and secured an approval from nearly 60 per cent voters in the Gautam Buddh Nagar Lok Sabha constituency. BSP's Nagar had to settle with 4,89,408 votes while Arvind Singh Chauhan, Congress party candidate from Gautam Buddh Nagar, managed to attract only 4, 642 voters. None of the other candidates managed to fetch even 1 per cent of the total voters count.
Speaking on the occasion after registering his victory, Dr Mahesh Sharma thanked people of Gautam Buddh Nagar for believing in him once again.
"I am thankful to the people for showing their faith in Modi once again while it's not just the victory of BJP but the victory of people's faith. It is clear that the victory signal towards the end of politics of castism and dynastic politics. We believe that the country will tread on the road to significant development over the next five years under the leadership of honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Sharma.
In Ghaziabad, BJP candidate Ret Gen Vijay Kumar Singh trounced Samajwadi Party's Suresh Bansal with over 5 lakh votes. Singh secured 9,44,503 votes which accounts nearly 62 per cent of the total voter's count.
