New Delhi: With an aim to decongest market areas in Rajouri Garden, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Friday inaugurated an automated multi-level car parking. The parking with ground plus five floors will provide parking facilities to 200 cars. SDMC has already made five parking lots functional so far at Munirka, Rajouri Garden, New Friends Colony, Kalkaji and Malviya Nagar, with a combined parking capacity of 1,500 cars. More automated multi-level parking will be constructed in other localities. In all, 20 multi-level parking facilities will be commissioned for the parking of more than 3,500 cars.
SDMC Mayor Narender Chawla stated that Rajouri Garden Market has become a hub of top-brand showrooms and other prominent shops resulting in the presence of a large number of customers at any point in time. The visitors and customers have been facing problems in parking their vehicles. The SDMC is committed to providing parking space in adequate numbers with an aim to provide relief to the customers visiting the markets. He announced that the new parking site will be commissioned within this year. The parking lot will have an electric control system, monitoring system, elevator, lift lobby and reliable fire-safety system.
SDMC Commissioner PK Goel said that SDMC is known for its unique initiatives for making the lives of the citizens comfortable and for this purpose, it has been making the use of cutting-edge technology.
