NEW DELHI: The Delhi Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution against Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash demanding his removal from the post. The resolution was moved by Aam Aadmi Party legislator Alka Lamba in the house.

"The House demands that Anshu Prakash should be immediately removed from the post of Chief Secretary, Delhi," read the resolution, which also demanded a detailed examination of the reasons for delay in the implementation of the CCTV project.

"This House also resolves that delay had occurred in implementing the decision despite the fact that the decision of CCTV installation by the government was taken on October 2015. The reasons for delay should be examined by the appropriate House committee," the resolution stated.

On Friday, the Delhi Cabinet accorded approval to the CCTV camera installation across the city. After a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took place, approval was given to the proposal made by the Public Works Department (PWD) for granting administrative approval and Expenditure Sanction for installation of CCTV Cameras in Delhi.

While granting the approval, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told the Assembly, "The Cabinet received a note from Prakash in which he called the project approval a hasty decision."

Pointing to Prakash's note, Lamba demanded removal of Prakash and moved the resolution. "The house also condemns the Chief Secretary, who seems to be acting on behalf of the central government, and his act appears to be a part of the conspiracy by the opposition to further delay the CCTV Project," the resolution said.
