New Delhi: A 28-year-old aspiring 'don' was arrested from Uttam Nagar area on Saturday. with police on Sunday saying the arrested accused is a big fan of Bollywood movies glorifying gangsters.
The accused Gaurav, alias Lefty, had reportedly seen several films and was influenced to the extent that he decided to become a crime lord in his area, with even his friends calling him 'Don'.
He is involved in a attempt to murder case in Uttam Nagar on June 17. One Ajay Tripathi had been taken to hospital with a gunshot injury after an assault by his rival Gagan Dhingra and his associate Gaurav, who had come on a scooty.
The accused had fired at Tripathi from point-blank range, but he luckily escaped with a shot to the thigh.
Police on Sunday said that Gaurav was arrested on the basis of a tip-off.
During interrogation, Gaurav revealed he wanted to avenge Tripathi after the latter had earlier shot Dhingra.
After the shooting, Gaurav often changed his whereabouts randomly to evade arrest. He never used mobile phones to contact his associates, knowing that cops could locate him by tracking his mobile.
