New Delhi: A reason why agencies should not take stolen cars lightly is the emerging fact that according to a newly found modus operandi, the arms suppliers are using stolen cars to hide their deadly ammunition before finding a suitable receiver for the weapons in the national Capital.

In fact this year's biggest cache of 107 semi-automatic pistols was seized from a stolen but abandoned car. The car containing weapons was parked at Mehrauli-Badar Pur road, near Tuglaqabad fort. The Honda city in which the cache of arms was recovered was stolen from Punjabi Bagh. This new method to hide weapons is likely to keep Delhi police on toes.

The carrier of Arms identified as 30-year-old Ramzan who wanted to supply it to Western UP after procuring it from a small village in Madhya Pradesh has been arrested.

It was on his interrogation police found out about this new modus operandi. The Honda City car, used for ferrying the illegal Arms consignment has also been seized from near Tughlaqabad fort.

Ramzan, the carrier of the weapons was arrested near DND flyway at outer ring road, where a trap was laid and the accused was apprehended.

He was found in the possession of 10 illegal pistols. He came to DND flyover to deliver a consignment of illegal Arms to one of the receivers from Western UP.

Interrogation of Ramzan revealed that the illegal pistols were procured from a Village Umarti from Sendhwa District Barwani Madhya Pradesh. He also disclosed that he along with his associates brought consignment from MP.

The consignment of 10 pistols was to be delivered to one of their receiver, who is resident of Meerut UP.

Since Ramzan was to deliver these 10 pistols to one of the receivers from Meerut, so he had taken a detour from Gurgaon to Delhi, on his way to Mathura UP, where these weapons were to be supplied.

"He came to supply the consignment of 10 pistols on the outer ring road. On further interrogation of arrested accused Ramzan, and at his instance, Honda city car containing the huge cache of (97 semi-automatic pistols) meant for supply in Mewat region of UP & Haryana, and another area of Western UP, was seized from Mehrauli-Badar Pur road, near Tuglaqabad fort," said DCP Special Cell PS Kushwah.
