New Delhi: The Economic and Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has booked real estate firm Amrapali and it's office bearers including the Director, yet again for cheating home buyers on the pretext of providing flats. Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) OP Mishra told Millennium Post that, in the present case there are more than 30 complainants. "We have started our investigation in the case," said Mishra. According to police, the complainants purchased flats in a group housing project of the company. One of the complainants told police that he had paid more than Rs 20 lakh which was 62.56 per cent of the total purchased value. The project was launched by the realty firm in 2013. The company officials through its various brochures, advertisements and communication misled the public. "The date of completion of the project as represented by the company officials was three years from the date of its launch," police said.

The complainant further told police that at the time of the launch of the project, officials from the real estate firm falsely misrepresented to the buyers that it had all rights, titles and licenses from the regulatory authority to take bookings of flats and receive booking amounts. "In the year 2014, the company executed an allotment cum flat buyer agreement with the complainant," the police said, adding that the development of his flat was to be completed latest by July 2017.

The complainant added that however it has been almost 62 months from the date of signing of the agreement but company officials have failed to complete the project. "The company officials collected money from buyers including the complainant and diverted the same to their commercial ventures rather than utilising it in construction, timely completion and delivery of the project," the complaint said.

According to Delhi Police data EOW has registered more than 200 cases against builders and real estate companies for cheating. As many as 52 cases were reported in 2017 whereas 127 cases were registered by EOW last year. This year till (August 7), 89 cases were registered against builders and real estate companies, data revealed.
