A brave woman managed to pin down a snatcher double her weight when he tried to flee with the bag of a Supreme Court lawyer in Delhi.

The woman managed to obstruct the scooty two snatchers were on and pounced on one of them near Safdarjung Hospital on Friday morning. The crowd, who gathered after the woman's daring effort, overpowered the snatcher and later handed him over to the police.

Krishna, a housewife, was on Friday returning home with her husband from Okhla Sabzi Mandi. As she stepped down from the bus, she saw two burly men on a scooty driving on the wrong side.

"They almost hit me and it took me a second to realise that they were snatchers as they were in hurry. I quickly pounced on them. However, I managed to catch only one, while the other ran away," said Krishna.

After Krishna showed exemplary courage and caught one of the snatchers, people in the vicinity gathered quickly and helped Krishna subdue the snatcher. They soon informed the cops, after which a PCR van reached the spot and apprehended the snatcher.

The cops then searched the stolen bag and contacted the owner with the phone number on the documents.

Minutes later, Amit Singh, a Supreme Court lawyer came to the PCR van and told police that the snatchers had fled after stealing the bag from his car.

"They told me someone had poured grease in my engine and asked me to check it. When I stopped at a traffic signal, a flower seller obstructed my view, while two men punctured my car's rear tyre. As I got down from the car, the two men took away my bag from the rear seat and ran way," said the lawyer.

It may be noted here that this new modus operandi has been used as a trick to divert victims and snatch or steal their bags while on roads. This method is quite similar to that of the notorious 'Thak Thak' gang, albeit with some improvisations.
