New Delhi: Police investigations have finally revealed that the accused in the Vasant Vihar triple murder case had meticulously planned the killings. After a speedy probe, a police official revealed that the accused had allegedly set up the crime scene to give investigators the impression that the crime was a result of an illicit love affair. In fact, the accused deliberately left their phones at home, to avoid surveillance.

Investigators told Millennium Post that Preeti Sehrawat, the woman accused was first to enter the couple's home. She then allegedly had a conversation with the elderly woman about her health. "The elderly woman asked her why she had come late at night. Accused replied that she wanted to know about her health," said the investigator. Meanwhile, the accused couple left a contraceptive at the spot to make sure that investigators think the murder was a result of a love affair the maid was having and not robbery.

"Bhatt brought liquior which he poured in the glass to give the impression that the deceased maid might have called someone in the flat," added another investigator. A team formed under Additional CP (crime) Rajiv Ranjan and DCP (Crime) Rajesh Deo questioned both the accused who told investigators that they were not present at the spot. In fact, they also offered to have their phone records checked as they knew it would not result in any proof, said a police official.

When asked, Special CP (Crime) Satish Golchha said they are verifying whether Bhatt was connected to any previous murders. Sehrawat (42) has a hotel management diploma and got married in 2000. Her husband left her in 2005 and settled in Canada. "She met Bhatt at a birthday party about three years back and started living with him. The duo first started a restaurant together and then a paying guest service; both the businesses suffered huge losses," police said.

The Delhi Police issued a statement reminding senior citizens to be wary of old acquaintances who resurface after years.
